Native CDFI Practitioner Certification Training

February 18, 2019 - February 22, 2019

First Nations Oweesta Corporation (Oweesta) is excited to launch a Native CDFI Practitioner Certification Program. Oweesta will be offering two opportunities to access specialization tracks from this program in partnership with the NeighborWorks National Training Institute (NTI) in Cleveland, Ohio, February 18-22, 2019. These trainings, which include scholarship opportunities for Native CDFIs and emerging groups developing Native CDFIs, are supported by funding from Wells Fargo. Oweesta and NeighborWorks America are both appreciative of Wells Fargo’s support of work that helps build capacity of groups serving Native communities. “NeighborWorks America is committed to creating opportunities for economic empowerment and inclusion for all people,” said Brooke Finn, acting senior vice president, NeighborWorks Services Group at NeighborWorks America. “We are pleased to partner with Oweesta. Programs like this can help Native community development organizations advance their work in strengthening communities and creating opportunities for their residents.”

ABOUT OWEESTA

Oweesta is the only existing Native CDFI intermediary offering financial products and development services exclusively to Native CDFIs and Native communities. Specifically, Oweesta provides training, technical assistance, investments, research, and policy advocacy to help Native communities develop an integrated range of asset-building products and services, including financial education and financial products.

Asset-building tools stimulate reservation economies by providing tribal members the opportunity to acquire financial management skills and build and accumulate assets through small business creation, homeownership, education, and much more.
